Özet:

This study examines the contribution of globalization to the economic empowerment of women in developing countries, focusing on Pakistan. It explores the multi-layered effects across economic, social, and political dimensions. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach that incorporates qualitative and quantitative data from secondary sources. Following the conceptual and theoretical framework, background and an extensive literature review, the study outlines a detailed research design and methodology. In the empirical part, a time series analysis is conducted for Pakistan for the period from 1980 to 2020. Three separate models and advanced econometric techniques are used, including Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), Johansen Cointegration, and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). These analyzes assess the characteristics and dynamics of the relevant time series data. The study also includes a conclusion and finishes with a detailed reference section. The results highlight the significant role of globalization in empowering women economically and promoting gender equality in Pakistan and other developing countries. Key drivers include the activities of multinational corporations (MNCs), the influence of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government policies, trade, export-led growth strategies, and technological advancement. The impact of COVID-19 and the subsequent post-COVID landscape are also considered. This study extends the existing literature through its comprehensive period and methodological detail. While several studies have examined the impact of globalization on women from different economic aspects separately, this study will be one of the few works that aim to combine multiple elements and contributions to explain women's economic empowerment as a whole.
