Özet

This article focuses on the content analysis of job advertisements published in the late Ottoman period and in the early years of the Republic. The quantitative evaluation of the research is based on 125 advertisements published in Ottoman Turkish in between 1909 and 1924 and on 173 different positions that taok place in these advertisements. In the research, by evaluating the example advertisements in terms of their contents, the aspects of for which positions employees were sought knowledge and skills required from employee and the procedures candidates were evaluated. In the said period, there was no significant change in terms of the qualification required from the candidates. The Ministry of National Education and the Ottoman Public Debt Administration were the institutions with highest demand for employees. While public institutions sought the required education and success in exam, competence and skills came first fo the private sector.
