Technology has become one of the most fundamental dynamics of modern society, reshaping
individuals’ lifestyles, modes of communication, and social interactions. Today, advanced digital
technologies play a decisive role in areas ranging from access to information to daily habits, while
also leading the transformation of social structures. This rapid change brings new forms of
attachment in interpersonal relationships, an increase in social issues like loneliness and isolation,
and a redefinition of identity perception; it also raises ethical and philosophical questions about
the future of society. In this study, Spike Jonze’s 2013 film Her is used to explore the role of
artificial intelligence in human life, inviting viewers to reflect on the nature of technology and
human existence. The film discusses the role of artificial intelligence in human relationships,
centering on the interaction between technology and human emotions through the primary
character Theodore’s relationship with Samantha, an advanced artificial intelligence. This study
examines psychological, sociological, and ethical perspectives on AI-human relationships and
analyzes the social insights the film presents. In particular, the cinematographic elements such as
color palette, sound design, setting, and close-up shots are evaluated for how they guide viewers
toward empathizing with AI. Through the film, questions of loneliness, isolation, and the
possibility of a future where the boundaries between human and nature blur are addressed within a
philosophical and ethical context. Ultimately, the film Her, analyzed through thematic analysis,
offers a striking perspective on the impact of artificial intelligence on human psychology and
relationships, prompting thoughts on the potential consequences of emotional satisfaction through
technology in the future.
