RESILIENCE AND ADAPTABILITY IN TURBULENT TIMES: A NEW ERA OF MANAGEMENT, Budapest, Macaristan, 2 - 05 Eylül 2025, (Yayınlanmadı)
Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) have
the potential to transform traditional business practices, prompting
organizational scholars to ask: “Is there another way?” This study examines the
key characteristics of scientific research on DAOs from a management and
organization science perspective. A literature review was conducted using
Scopus-indexed publications under the Social Sciences and Business and
Management categories. After applying disciplinary and document-type filters,
118 publications were analyzed through bibliometric methods. The findings
reveal a significant rise in research activity after 2021, led by contributions
from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Keyword analysis shows
a strong focus on blockchain, governance, smart contracts, and Web3
technologies. Thematic clustering further highlights emerging discussions
around organizational reconfiguration and institutional innovation. These
clusters suggest that DAOs not only introduce technological novelty but also challenge
traditional notions of organizational design, legitimacy, and control. This
study offers a foundational mapping of DAO-related scholarship within the
management domain and contributes to bridging a conceptual gap by repositioning
DAOs within broader debates in organization theory.
