Corporate governance is a set of laws, regulations, codes and practices that enable a company to achieve human and financial capital, to show higher performance and thus to create economic value for the society and its stakeholders in the long term. The aim of this study is to measure the effect of the participation of 9 banks listed in Borsa Istanbul on the corporate governance index between 2012 and 2017 on their financial performance. For this purpose, panel data analysis was performed by using the data collected from the financial statements of 9 banks that are traded on the BIST as of the end of 2017 and 3 of them are included in the
corporate governance index.
Kurumsal yönetim bir şirketin beşeri ve finansal sermayeyi elde etmesine, daha yüksek performans göstermesine ve bu sayede uzun vadede hem topluma hem de paydaşlarına ekonomik değer yaratmasına olanak sağlayan kanun, yönetmelik, kod ve uygulamalar bütünüdür. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2012-2017 yılları arasında hisse senetleri Borsa İstanbul’da işlem gören 9 bankanın kurumsal yönetim endeksinde yer almalarının finansal performanslarına etkisini ölçmektir. Bu amaçla 2017 yılı sonu itibariyle BİST’de işlem gören ve 3’ü kurumsal yönetim endeksinde yer alan toplam 9 bankanın finansal tablolarından toplanan veriler kullanılarak panel veri analizi yapılmıştır.
