Abstract:

One of the most important elements indicating the financial status of countries is banking activities. The deterioration of the banking sector leads to the deterioration of the economies of the countries and deterioration of the operational balance in the market. As a result of the banks' bankruptcy, the economy, the banking industry and the investors face with great losses. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the performance of the banks and to take precautions if it is necessary. It helps to take precautions when the financial status of the banks whose performance is evaluated and monitored is known. In this way, both the economy and the investors can balance their risks. Especially the situation in 2001 crisis and bankrupt banks indicate the importance of evaluating the performance of banks. The purpose of this study is to analyze the performances of deposit banks, which form a large part of the banking sector, in accordance with the multi-criteria decision-making method. Multi-criteria decision making method is used when there is more than one affecting criterion. Within the scope of the research, TOPSIS and VIKOR methods have been used as multi criteria decision making methods. With these methods, the financial performance of deposit banks for the last five years has been evaluated and analyzed. The results of the research provide information for industry managers and researchers.
