Abstract:

Being elected Vladimir Putin as the President of Russia started using its energy resources as a means of diplomatic sanction. İn this case, it (Russia) is influencing negatively on the energy security of European Union as it has not enough energy reserve, more particularly natural gas. İn this context, the main purpose of this dessertation is to examine how Russia's energy policy affected EU energy security that started changing since 2000. Moreover, the energy policies developed by EU in response to the increasing dependence on energy imports are explained in detail.
