Abstract:

In this study, after examining various aspects and concepts of competitiveness, in order to evaluate the competitiveness of Turkish electric household appliances sector competitiveness of the sector is calculated and evaluated for the years 2005 - 2015 by using the Revealed Comparative Advantages (RCA) method. In the study, The Trade Map utilizing which is developed by International Trade Centre (ITC) and based on the classification system in the International Customs Tariff Position (Harmonized System), foreign trade data of the electrical household appliances sector of Turkey between 2005 and 2015 were collected. The classification of the Customs Tariff Position was used in the study. According to this classification, for the period between 2005 and 2015 for all sub-sectors of 6-digit belonging to the electrical household appliances group with GTIP 8516, The competitiveness of Turkey in these sectors has been analyzed with the data obtained by calculating the RCA values by Balassa's Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) method. According to the results of the study, Turkey's electric household appliances sector generally have a low competitive power nevertheless 851621 HS coded heater radiators, 851629 HS coded electric heaters components and parts, 851660 HS coded cooking and frying appliances have been found to have a high competitive power.
