Abstract:

Starting in the 1950s the technological advances and intensified as the years 19701980 developments economic globalization has been accelerated, countries have been integrated into each other. Turkey's economy has attempted to implement liberal economic policies with the proclamation of the Republic in the process of economic transformation of the liberal movement by the effect of the Great Depression was replaced protectionist approach. In many countries, especially in Turkey after 1950 import substitution industrialization model has been applied and what happened after the 1970 depression as a result of the process of open export growth in the 1980s. Implemented policies after 1980 in Turkey's Manufacturing Industry import-export figures influenced in a positive direction, the Manufacturing Industry has increased integration with the global economy. In this context, the study aims to measure the integration of the international economy in Turkey’s Manufacturing Industry . To this end, Turkey in the manufacturing industry ISIC REV 3 dual-level 22 sector, foreign trade volume (FTV)/ gross domestic product (GDP) ratios calculated for the years 2000-2014 and the rate of change in the global economy integration of the sector evaluated and source is scrutinized. According to the results obtained; 16 sector's integration into global economy has increased at a certain level; 7 sector's import and export growth did almost the same level as the change, 9 sector’s is due to the export. The other 6 sector’s integration into global economy has not increased economy. Between the years 2000 and 2014 Turkey’s integration of manufacturing industry to global economy has been increased from the rates 30% up to the 50% and it came to 66% since the ratio of foreign trade volume to gross domestic product. The study also covers the years 2000-2015 competitiveness of Turkey's Manufacturing Industry Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) was measured using the method and competitiveness were analyzed. According to the obtained results for 22 sectors; 9 sector’s competitiveness is high, on the border of 6 sector's competitiveness, 7 sector’s competitiveness is low.
