Özet:

This study examines the impact of macroeconomic policies on real GDP growth of Ghana by focusing on the variables related to monetary and fiscal policies. With this aim, Johansen co-integration and VECM approaches are employed by using quarterly data between 2009Q1 and 2018Q4.In the model, consumer price index (CPI) and money supply variables are used as monetary policy tools while public expenditure and internal debt are used for fiscal policy tools. It is found that there is a long run correlation among the variables and CPI and money supply have a long run positive effect on real GDP, while the public expenditure and internal debt have long run negative effect on it.In the short run dynamic, it is found that, CPI and money supply have a positive effect on current real GDP growth while internal debt and public expenditure have a negative effect on current real GDP growth. Keywords:VECM Model, GDP Growth, Macroeconomic policiesJEL Codes: F41, E62, E52
