Abstract:

Exporting is considered as the driving force behind competitiveness and economic growth for both companies and countries. However, nowadays' business environment is highly competitive and dynamic, therefore the real challenge facing companies is using their resources and capabilities to be a successful, competitive exporter and show high export performance. The main purpose of this study is to explore the relationships between entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability, and export skills of exporting companies in Turkey and how these variables affect export performance. Within this context, The study was composed of middle and senior managers of companies that export and are registered in the export union in Turkey. The sample of the study was composed of 310 managers. Convenience and purposive sampling methods were used in the selection of the research's sample and and online survey form was applied as data collection tool. Data was analyzed with SPSS 24.0, AMOS 18.0, and PROCESS programs. As a result of the research, entrepreneurial orientation, export skills, and innovation capability affect export performance. Besides, obtained findings demonstrated that export skills and innovation capability have a serial mediation effect on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and export performance. Considering the result of this study, companies with the aim of higher performance, profitability, and growth in the international markets should adjust their efforts to emphasize capabilities development in their exporting activities.
