Abstract:

In Turkey, prior to 2003 The permission and approval system applied for the Foreign Investment Incentive Law No. 6224. However, this old law was abolished and after 2003, the new Foreign Direct Investment Law (FDIL) No. 4875 was replaced with an informing system. In this respect, bureaucratic obstacles of foreign investors have been reduced and the new law provides for the easily establishment of a company for foreigners, the recognition of the right to acquire real estate, and various other rights. Moreover, they benefit from the incentives that the state imposes on its citizens on investment, without any difference from the domestic investor. The importance of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in terms of economy and Turkey's efforts to attract FDI are considerable. In this study, the definition of FDI, its types, FDIL and some legal legislations FDI that are related to foreign investors and the situation of FDI in Turkey have been examined.
