Abstract:

Today, understanding the reasons behind the employees’ decision to quit has gained a growing importance in many sectors as well as in the hospitality industry. In the competition field, the loss of the trained workforce creates difficulties in the short and the long run. This situation makes the determination of the intention to quit, an obligation. Therefore, it creates the necessity for the organizations to conduct various applications and activities within the organization. Certainly, one of these applications is empowerment applications. In this study, it has been researched whether the perception of empowerment activities applied by the employees has a tendency to show organizational citizenship behavior and whether this tendency has an effect on their intention to quit.. In order to determine the relationships between the concepts, a questionnaire was applied to random employees selected from the hospitality industry. The reason to prefer the hospitality industry for this study is the relatively less hierarchical structure and the application of more abstract activities. Another reason is the service oriented structure of the sector. The effectiveness of the strengthening activities in the hospitality industry towards the tendency of employees to exhibit organizational citizenship behavior and their intention to leave were discussed.
