Abstract:

With the acceleration of the globalization process, the spheres of activity, the forms of competition, the organizational structures and the management perceptions of companies have begun to change, over combating the effects of activities carried out only within their own country or in a very limited international environment, it is now necessary to fight in a global market and with global competitors. Risk management is a sensitive and important issue for country managers. A term closely related to risk is uncertainty. Uncertainty is the lack of certainty between alternatives that leads to undesirable outcomes. Although risk management is seen as an issue that closely concerns the senior and middle management team in the country, it is an issue that closely concerns all stakeholders in the country. In addition, risk management is not only a topic that concerns a sector in the country, but also a broad one that concerns all sectors on a global basis and necessitates the production preventative tools and promoting large-scale continuous development. In this study, a situation analysis was made regarding risk and competition management in international trade and it was determined where Turkey is located on the subject. The basic method to be used within the scope of situation analysis is SWOT and PESTEL analysis. The results are that the decrease in foreign capital investments, which play a role in both Turkey's foreign trade and technological transformation, plays a leading role. After the 2000s, there was an increase in foreign capital flows with privatization policies. The problems experienced in global supply chains with The Covid-19 outbreak shows its importance transportation activities and geographical proximity are in production and trade. Due to the fact that these experiences, it is seen that international investments, especially in the Asian region, have entered the process of slowing down, and countries that are geographically close to many regions such as Turkey have been re-evaluated in terms of international investments. In Turkey's medium and long-term plans, it is necessary to achieve a stable structure in basic macroeconomic indicators.
