Abstract:This study examines how Kurdish Women movements started in late Ottoman Period (1876-1923) and its relation with Kurdish National Movement. The Ottoman women gained awareness to women problems and started to advocate their rights with social changes witnessed during modernization activities started in Ottoman State. In this study, the Kurdish press elements, namely journals and newspapers published between 1898, the year first Kurdish newspaper Kurdistan has been published and 1923, the year Turkish Republic was established, have been examined chronologically to see the characteristics of Kurdish Women Movement in relation to Kurdish National Movement.
